Samueli Institute is a non-profit research organization based in Alexandria, Virginia, supporting the scientific exploration of healing processes and their role in medicine and health care. Samueli Institute’s research areas include integrative medicine, optimal healing environments, the role of the mind in healing, behavioral medicine, health care policy, and military and veterans’ health care. Wayne B. Jonas, MD, has been the President and CEO of Samueli Institute since it was founded in 2001. Dr Jonas blogs at (SamueliInstituteBlog.org ) and hosts a (podcast ) called On Human Flourishing for Samueli Institute.
As part of its work in the area of optimizing health and well-being in a health care setting, Samueli Institute coined the term "Optimal Healing Environments" in 2004 and developed an organizing framework containing 4 environments and 8 concepts.
To evaluate the state of the science on a particular topic, Samueli Institute developed a systematic review methodology called SEaRCH™〔(【引用サイトリンク】website=Samueli Institute Website )〕 (Scientific Evaluation and Review of Claims in Health Care) and has conducted evidence assessments on integrative medicine, self-care for chronic pain, acupuncture for the trauma spectrum response, acupuncture for post-traumatic stress, omega-3 fatty acids, mind-body therapies for pain.
